Moose on The Loose in Hudson Valley
Admit it. It's not every day you see a moose running around the Hudson Valley.
Apparently that's exactly what the Hudson City Police Department saw on Monday night.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is the largest land mammal in New York, weighing anywhere between 600 to 1,200 pounds. The DEC explains that "In New York, most moose are located in the northeastern part of the state in the Adirondack Mountains and the Taconic Highlands along the Massachusetts and Vermont borders."
The officers at the Hudson City Police Department shared this video of a moose on the loose on Worth Avenue.
Officers took to Facebook to remind us that approaching the large animal could be dangerous saying "Please remember a moose can be a dangerous animal that will choose flight or fight when encountered."
If you do happen to see a moose in the Hudson Valley or in New York the DEC encourages you to send in your moose sightings using the Moose Sighting Report Form.
