
Monticello Couple Arrested for Armed Robbery

The robbery took place on Tuesday at the Monticello Quick Mart on 41 Forestburg Road.
Jeffrey Schuman and Stephanie Scanna both of Monticello, have each been charged with two counts of second degree robbery, a felony. They were also charged with one count of petty larceny, a misdemeanor according to the Times Herald Record.
Police told the Record that Schuman went into the store around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, carrying a black hand gun and wearing a mask. Once he got in the store he threatened the clerk. Police said he then took money from the cash register before leaving.
The other suspect, Scanna was waiting outside in a blue 1990 Plymouth Horizon which the pair used as a getaway car.
After the robbery local authorities from Monticello police, State police, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and District Attorney's Office started an investigation that lead them to the pair's home on Edward Avenue in the village on Monticello where the blue car was spotted.
The pair were arrested at 11 a.m. and sent to the Sullivan County jail without bail.
Police are also looking into whether or not Schuman was also involved in a January 16th robbery at the same store.
