Monday’s Cold Temperature in Poughkeepsie Breaks Record
Okay, I think we're done with winter for real this time. But I've also felt like we've been telling ourselves that since the first real day of Spring.
That was back on March 20.
Since then, the Hudson Valley has seen some of the strangest weather patterns. For instance yesterday, April 30th, parts of the Hudson Valley saw snow. Yes, the day before the first day of May and parts of Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties were reporting snowfall.
Does spring even exist in the Hudson Valley?
According to Meteorologist Ben Noll, the Hudson Valley saw one of its coldest April 30. Noll tweeted on Monday that Poughkeepsie saw a high of 44 throughout the day on the 30th.
Because Poughkeepsie couldn't crack 50 degrees, Monday broke some records. April 30, 2018 is going on the record as the coldest April 30th in Poughkeepsie in 88 years.
So to answer my own question from earlier, no. Spring does not exist in the Hudson Valley.
While the weather was a downer yesterday, it definitely looks as though spring is here. The rest of the week according to HudsonValleyWeather.com is looking sunny with highs near 80 degrees.
