Mohegan Sun Has Been Nominated For ACM Casino of the Year

We all checked out the ACM awards on Monday night, but here's something I bet you didn't know.

Mohegan Sun in Connecticut has just been nominated by the Academy of Country Music for "Casino of the Year."

The Uncasville Casino is one of four nominees in the country up for the prestigious title.

In a recent press release put out by the casino, the President of sports and entertainment at the casino, Tom Cantone, was humbled by the honor saying "it's a tribute to the world class venue and the team at Mohegan Sun to actually be nominated."

The "Casino of the Year" award is presented annually to an outstanding arena within a casino. A professional panel of judges votes and selects the award winning casino based on a number of criteria including having to have hosted at least four Country concerts during the last 12 months.

Mohegan Sun last took home the award in 2019, its last year of eligibility since winners from previous years are not considered for consecutive nominations in the category. A win would make it the eighth time the ACMs has honored Mohegan Sun Arena and the17th national award for the 10,000-seat Arena.

This year the "Casino of the Year" award will be presented at its 15th annual Industry Honors ceremony in the fall.

The Casino did put up some impressive numbers during 2021, drawing more than 450,000 people to Country concerts which made it the top casino venue in the entire world despite the fact that they were only opened for half the year due to COVID concerns and restrictions.

The Connecticut Casino is not just standing on their laurels, they already booked some top of the line Country Concerts for 2022 including acts like Brad Paisley, Sam Hunt, Keith Urban, and Kane Brown, with more shows to be announced.
