Upstate New York Police Looking For Missing Vulnerable Adult

Police in Oneonta New York are hoping to get the publics help in locating a missing adult.

According to a Facebook post Oneonta Police are looking for 34-year-old Colleen D. Nicholson. The 34-year old is described a vulnerable adult, who may be in need of medical attention.

Oneonta Police Release Information about Missing Vulnerable Adult

In the Facebook post, Oneonta Police released more details about Nicholson.

The 34-year-old was last seen driving a 2013 red Kia SUV that looks similar to this:

The vehicle has New York plates with license plate number LGJ-4364.

Chelsea was last seen on Franklin Street in the City of Oneonta in Otsego County around 9 am on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026. She was last seen wearing all black clothing.

If you see Chelsea and her vehicle Oneonta Police ask for you to call 911 immediately.

Missing Adult Alert Program in New York State

According to the New York State Senate a Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert is activated for "missing individuals, aged 18+ with cognitive impairments, mental disabilities or brain disorders (e.g., dementia, autism) who are in danger."

If you watch crime dramas or listening to true crime podcast, you may think that with a missing adult you have to wait 24-48 hours to report them missing.

However, New York State explains "There is no waiting period to report a missing person." Family members or friends should immediately call 911 if they realize an adult is missing, especially if they have some sort of cognitive impairment or medical condition.
