Marist Women’s Basketball Team Looking to Upset Louisville
It was a weekend of upsets for fans of Men's College Basketball this weekend as the NCAA tournament got underway.
Sunday kicked off the Women's portion of the NCAA tourney. If you've been following along there has been some drama regarding the set up for the Women's teams compared to the Men's.
Players from the Women's teams shared their less than stellar weight room set up, which consisted of 12 dumbbells' and a handful of yoga mats, next to the state of the art Men's facility.
Thankfully, sponsors like Dick's Sporting Goods stepped up and gave the ladies the same March Madness treatment.
With the new weight room in place, the ladies are ready to rock. Lucky for us, we have a Hudson Valley team ready to represent.
The Marist Women's Red Foxes, a 15 seed, will be hitting the hardwood tonight at 8 pm as they take on the 2nd seeded, Louisville.
We smell an upset.
Taking a look at the big upsets this weekend from the Men's side, Oral Roberts (a 15 seed) beat THE Ohio State (a 2 seed) and Illinois who was the #1 seed in the Midwest, was defeated by the 8 seed Loyola Chicago.
Back in 2007, the Red Foxes went all the way to the Sweet Sixteen after defeating Ohio State and Middle Tennessee in the first 2 rounds. From 2007 to 2014 the Red Foxes had a great run, making an appearance in the March Madness tournament every year. They have a 5-10 tournament record.
You can catch the Marist Women's Basketball team at tip off on ESPN. Follow along for updates online on Twitter through the Marist Women's Basketball account.
Marist could use some good news. As of Sunday, March 21st, 2021 the Poughkeepsie campus has been switched to all remote classes as Marist has reported almost 200 positive cases of COVID-19.
