It is always sad when one of your favorite stores closes. Many people in New Paltz are feeling sad today about the news that a popular gift shop is closing at Water Street Market.
New Paltz Gift Shop Closes Its Doors After 23 Years
Maglyn's Dream has been a staple at Water Street Market and in New Paltz since it opened in 2002. Owner Lynn Oldmixon and her staff built a shop that people came to know for its local items and well-curated original art gift items.
Today Lynn took to social media to announce that Maglyn's will be closing its doors for good at the end of March. After 2 decades of offering jewelry, pottery, glassware, and more the shop will be closing down.

Lynn and the staff at Maglyn's invite everyone to stop by the shop before they close at the end of this month to say goodbye. There will also be discounts on more than 90 percent of the inventory. Lynn is also offering store fixtures for sale as well.
Customers are wishing Lynn and the staff the best on social media. They are also commenting on how much they will miss the store.
Having had a store at Water Street for a few years I had the opportunity to get to know Lynn and her shop. She is an amazing shopkeeper. Maglyn's was always clean and inviting. Lynn and her staff always greeted customers with a smile. Lynn also made sure that her items were of fine quality.

I am sure some of Maglyn's customers will wish that someone had bought the store and kept it open but I can tell you following in Lynn's footsteps would have been hard. Maglyn's is one of the original stores at Water Street Market.
Some of the other shops that have been around since the market opened are Paws of Distinction, Himalayan Arts, and the Antiques Barn.
