According to the Daily Freeman a Wawarsing couple have been arrested.

The incident took place on last Thursday when police told the Freeman that Nancy Ducker, of Wawarsing was driving south on Hermance Street with her two children, when she struck the 7-year-old. Police said she fled the scene of accident because she had no license.

After the accident police found that she met her boyfriend, and he agreed to tell authorities he was the one driving the car. Authorities said the couple returned to the site of the accident and gave police a false statement.

The child hit in the accident was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious physical injuries.

Ducker was charged with a felony charge of leaving the scene of a serious injury personal injury auto accident, and the misdemeanors of reporting a false incident, obstructing governmental administration, operating a motor vehicle without a license, along with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Her boyfriend, Larry Lipscomb, also of Wawarsing, was also charged with the misdemeanors of reporting a false incident and obstructing governmental administration.

The couple is due in town court on Tuesday.
