It's "Genre Week" on American Idol as we head to Hollywood for the next round of auditions.

Luckily, we have some homegrown Hudson Valley talent to cheer on in the process.

15 (almost 16-year-old) Lailah Mach of New Paltz got herself a golden ticket to Hollywood a few weeks ago on ABC's American Idol. Mach audition with an original song called Drive Off a Bridge that had the judges and America in awe.

We got the chance to talk to Lailah this week about the audition processes and she shared with us that after her performance aired, people started to suggest she "go to therapy."

Mach also shared with us that the boy from the song did get into an accident, but it wasn't that bad.

Lailah shared with us a little behind the scenes info for this weekends Hollywood audition round. It's Genre Week and the contestants perform a song of their choosing. Lailah said she'll be performing a song by one of her favorite artist, Clinton Kane.

As of right now, Lailah's status on the show is in the hands of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. They'll make the final decision as to if Miss Mach moves forward in the Idol competition.

You can hear our full interview with Lailah on IGTV on @HVCountry. And while you're there make sure to wish her a happy birthday, she turns 16 (!!!) on Monday.
