Beaches Closed in New York

Last week, we learned that public health officials in New York were worried that high bacteria levels were creating unsafe swimming conditions at numerous beaches on Long Island, NY.

The unsafe levels forced five beaches to close around July 4th, including Benjamin Beach in Bay Shore, Ronkonkoma Beach in Islip, Sayville Marina Park Beach in Sayville, Morgan Beach in Glen Cove, and
Biltmore Beach Club in Massapequa, NY.

Now it appears that a Hudson Valley beach has been forced to close due to similar circumstances.

Will Kingston Point Beach Reopen?

When the parks and recreation department announced the closure on Facebook, many residents flooded the comment section with various questions: "When will they return to monitor? Will it be within 2-3 days? Will the beach potentially remain closed unnecessarily during high temperatures because of that schedule?" asked one follower.

We did reach out to the parks and recreation department to see if they could provide some answers and a possible timeline for when the beach might reopen, but haven't heard back. When we do, we will update this article.

Until then, anyone looking to swim in the Kingston area is invited to swim for free at the Andretta Pool located at 76 N Front St, Kingston, NY.
