A "serial larcenist" was arrested three more times after admitting to four crimes in the Hudson Valley.

Over the weekend, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler confirmed a Middletown man was sentenced for a "serial larcenist."

On Tuesday, 32-year-old David Mead of Middletown, New York was sentenced to an aggregate term of three to six years in prison in connection with his previous guilty pleas in Orange County Court to burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

“Break-ins can not only result in costly damage or loss of property, but constitute an inexcusable invasion of privacy,” Hoovler stated. “It required the cooperative
involvement of all of the police agencies in this case to ensure that the defendant was held to account for his string of crimes across Orange County."

In October 2023, Mead broke a window at a bar in the Village of Montgomery and entered in search of money. He then broke into a car the same day in the Town of Wawayanda and stole credit cards that he tried to use.

Just two days later, he stole tools from a parked car in the New Windsor. The next day he broke into another car in the Town of Newburgh and stole a gym bag.

When he was arrested on October 24, 2023, members of the Town of Newburgh Police Department recovered from Mead’s vehicle property he stole from the incident in New Windsor.

Mead pleaded guilty in November 2023. After his guilty plea, while waiting to be sentenced, he was arrested three more times, officials say.

Mead admitted that he had violated the conditions of his plea and was subject to the enhanced sentence imposed, officials say.
