Fishing Derby Returns to Hyde Park, New York This May!
I may not come across as your typical "outdoorsy" kind of guy, but I do love getting outdoors when the weather gets warmer. I love to go hiking, whether that is on a walking trail or up a nearby mountain. I'm the designated "grill dad" in a lot of my friend-groups. That's the main reason why I get invited to so many BBQ's - so I can be the guy to grill up all the food, and you know what, I'm okay with that! I can build a fire better than a number of my friends who grew up being scouts. Heck, I even used to run an "Outdoor Adventure" camp for a few years where we'd take the kids hiking, swimming, fishing and more!
Fishing was one of my favorite activities to do with the kids. I don't recommend having to untangle 25 fishing poles when they get all messed on the bus ride over to the lake, but it's a fun activity to teach the kids. It's awesome to see how they get into it, and to see the excitement on their faces when they catch a big one! I've even transferred my fishing-teaching skills over to here at Townsquare. Perhaps you saw me run the fishing booth at the Hudson Valley Outdoor Show. Yeah, it may have been raining that day, but the fish were biting!
