Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.

This week, we had a chance to talk about an organization which has helped over 50,000 individuals live a life without drugs and alcohol over the past 45 years, the Villa Veritas Foundation. Stopping by our studios this week were Sue Cusack, Co-Founder and President of Villa Veritas; Joy Bick, Project Manager and IT at Villa Veritas; and Patrick Pillsworth, CASAC, Community Relations and Outreach at Villa Veritas.

The conversation was powerful and uplifting. We talked about the history of Villa Veritas and the work of Sue's husband James Cusack, who passed away 2 years ago. We spoke of the many programs offered there and their mission to help so many have the gift of sobriety to be able to live and enjoy life without alcohol and other drugs. We also talked of the upcoming 7th annual Walk the Walk For Recovery on Sunday, September 16 and how the community can get involved.

My writing is not doing justice to what they do at Villa Veritas, so here is this week's show.
