It happened on Route 22 Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lohud, fire departments from Brewster, Putnam Lake and Croton Falls all worked together to help save a man that crashed his Mitsubishi box truck into a tree on Route 22 in Brewster.

Brewster Fire Chief Phil McMurray told Lohud that when he arrived on the scene of the accident he saw that the truck was hung up on a rock wall and that the driver's leg was pinned inside.

He also said that

"The vehicle was pretty well mangled on the driver side, the A-post on the driver side actually ripped and partially severed the leg closest to the door. The dashboard pinned his other leg between the steering wheel and the floor."

After working for 14 minutes the fire departments freed the driver from the wreck.

After freeing the driver from crash he was transported to Danbury Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

New York State Police told Lohud that the driver likely fell asleep before veering off the road by the intersection of Route 22 and Middletown Road in Brewster.
