Saturday September 7th the Town of Esopus Library will host a Repair Cafe from 11 AM to 3 PM. The library at 128 Canal Street in Port Ewen hosts these type of events about once a quarter. It is your chance to get something repaired for free and learn about the repair from a professional.  Now before your load up your leaky faucet let me explain.

Things that usually are repaired at a repair cafe are things that you wouldn't normally call a repairman/woman for around the house. Items are usually a beloved sweater, a quilt your Grandma made, a chair that needs a leg reattached or even something more precious like a piece of family jewelry. The folks who do the repairs are specialist and donate their time.

A variety of professional crafts men and women volunteer at these events. The organizers do ask that you only bring two items per persons and also that you understand sometimes the person who fixes that type of item can't always attend every repair cafe. If your repair can't be handle this Saturday hopefully they can put you in touch with a crafts person who can help at another time.

The 2019 Repair Cafe schedule at the library has additional date later this fall on November 2nd. The time is always 11 Am to 3 PM in the downstairs activity room which you can reach by elevator or by driving to the lower level parking area.

If you have questions or if you are someone who could repair something and want to become a volunteer Repair Coach please contact Brian via email esopusprogramming@gmail.com. They could use digital people.

Items that can usually be worked on are: Mechanical, electrical and electronic devices, sewing & clothes mending, jewelry, photo restoration, blade sharpening (limit: 2 per person), things made of wood, and bicycles.
