Do you have something precious from the past that needs repair? If so you are in luck because this Sunday there is a "Repair Cafe" that specializes in all things old. If you are not familiar with the concept of the repair cafe, it is an event where people who specialize in all types of repair gather to help you fix an item that is dear enough to you to repair but not necessarily something you would take to any old fix up shop.

This Sunday's (April 28th) event is at Locust Lawn 436 Route 32 in New Paltz. The historic Locust Lawn House and Farm welcomes the public and of course antiques buffs to stop out to Sunday's event from 11 AM to 3 PM. "The Timeless Art of Repair" repair cafe will take an informative twist as craftsman and specialists show you how thing were repaired in the past and invite you to bring an item that needs repair.

Specialist in the fields of repairing Furniture, Wood, Lamps and hand sewing will be on hand to assist. In the past repair was necessary and the materials used to make repairs were very different from today's techniques. You can also enjoy home-made biscuits and free coffee and tea. This whole event is free and children are welcome.

You are also encourage to bring more modern items to be repaired as well as your antiques. Dawn Elliott, the site manager of Locust Lawn and a recipient of this year's Martha Washington History Award organized this event for all to enjoy. Dawn is also well known at many of the New Paltz Repair Cafes for her talents with sewing on textile work.
