A Hudson Valley man admitted he fatally shot his live-in girlfriend.

On Friday in Ulster County Court, 42-year-old Karon Bowden of Saugerties pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

On May 31, Bowden killed Amy Lousie Burger, 25, by shooting her in the face from close range in her Saugerties home.

According to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Burger tried to break up with Bowden moments before the murder. Bowden was unemployed at the time of the killing, police say. He and Burger lived together for over three years.

On the day of the murder, Saugerties police received a 911 call that was disconnected. Police arrived to Burger’s home on Randall Court just as Bowden fatally shot her.

Jury selection was scheduled to begin on Monday. Bowden is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
