A small Hudson Valley town was named one of the best in the Northeast.

3 Hudson Valley Small Town Named Top 10 Best in America

Depending on who you ask, back in March, 3 Hudson Valley towns made USA Today's 10 Best List for the Best Small Towns in the Northeast. New Paltz, Saugerties, and Tarrytown all made the Top 20 and thanks to the passionate voting of the community members, all 3 towns debuted in the Top 10.

Some may argue that Tarrytown isn't considered the Hudson Valley, but more so Lower Hudson Valley or Westchester. To each their own. We're just happy to see so many local towns make the list.

Voting ended at the end of March and the 10Best Small Towns in the Northeast have been announced.

Ulster County, NY Town Makes Top 10 Best Small Town List

Saugerties, New York has been named the 6th Best Small Town in the Northeast according to USA Today voters.

USA Today writes:

Saugerties, New York, is an adorable town that’s situated between the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River, offering a quaint escape with an artsy spirit.

Tarrytown also made the list at number 9. USA Today explains what makes the Lower Hudson Valley town one of the best writing "Tarrytown's Main Street is a great place to browse, with its many antique shops, clothing stores and other boutiques, art galleries, and a stunning view of the river. "

New Paltz, sadly, didn't make the cut.

Things to Do in Saugerties, New York

Obviously, Saugerties has a lot to offer. Some fun facts for you:

• Ian Flannigan from Team Blake on NBC's The Voice is from Saugerties.
• HBO's reboot of Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) filmed season 1 in Saugerties.
• In 2020, Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in Saugerties assisted in the rehab of Rocky the Owl who was found in The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree after it was cut down. Rocky went on to become a bit of a celebrity with his picture on the side of a plane and a children's book written about him.
• Into history? Check out the historic Saugerties Lighthouse...which some may say is haunted.
