Way back when I first started out in radio I would go to a friend's house on Sundays for a song writing session and dinner. We probably talked and ate more than we wrote but it always seemed that we both left with some renewed inspiration. It doesn't matter what you write, books, blogs or songs it is always good to shake off the creative cobwebs by chatting with others who enjoy the craft.

If you are a local song writer the Gardiner Library has an event you might want to jump into on Zoom. Hudson Valley Music Collective and the Gardiner Library are hosting a Virtual Songwriters Circle at the end of this month, Wednesday May 27th from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM. Their special guest will be Ricky Stein who's influences are traditional roots-rock/American and progressive indie rock. Born in Austin Ricky now calls New York City home.

This event is designed to give songwriters a chance to share their experiences composing and is not restricted to any genre. Everyone is encouraged to have an instrument and enjoy learning from one another. It is a chance to discuss the craft and share your work. There is a suggested donation of $10. It is open to all ages and levels of songwriting. The contact for the event is Nicole who can be reached at nlane@rcls.org to get the information to join them on Zoom.

Listen to Paty Quyn weekday afternoons from 3PM to 7PM on The Wolf. Stream us live through the website, Alexa-enabled device, Google Home or The Wolf mobile app.
