Hudson Valley Man Threatened to ‘Blow’ Roommate’s ‘Head Off’ While Holding Gun, Police Say
During a verbal fight between Hudson Valley housemates, one is accused of holding a gun and telling the other he was going to blow his head off.
On Halloween around 8:30, Saugerties police responded to Old State Road in the Town of Saugerties for a reported dispute between two men. 54-year-old David Edwards, who called 911, told officials that 35-year-old Richard Campbell threatened him during a verbal dispute.
Campbell told police that the pair did have an argument. However, Campbell said that during the dispute Edwards was holding a handgun and stated he was going to blow Campell’s head off.
A female witness, who was at the house during the incident, told authorities she saw Edwards with a gun.
Edwards was arrested and charged second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor.
A search warrant executed in Edwards’s bedroom resulted in the discovery of a replica .45 semi-automatic hand gun in a holster, which was hidden in the bedroom, police say.
Edwards was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. He is scheduled to reappear court on Nov. 3. The court further issued an Order of Protection on behalf of Campbell.
