Last year, we started getting reports about a new thriller starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt that was filming all over the Hudson Valley. A few weeks ago, that movie had its world premiere at SXSW, where it was widely praised. And now, finally, A Quiet Place is set to hit theaters this Friday, April 6th.

The movie was shot all over Dutchess and Ulster County, in places like Pawling, Beacon, and New Paltz. It's about a family that has to survive after some kind of apocalyptic event, and to do that, they have to be completely silent or else be hunted by mysterious creatures. The trailer for this looks great, and if reviews are any indication, the movie delivers.

As of this writing, A Quiet Place currently holds a coveted 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. As someone who watched The Office for nine years, I never would have expected Krasinski to go on to direct and star in a horror movie - it seems like a turn that has come out of left field for him - but I am into it. After all, Jordan Peele just won an Oscar for writing Get Out. Comedians making horror movies is something we could see a lot more of in the near future.
