Hudson Valley Couple in Their 90s Marries
So maybe I still have a chance at finding love.
I'll be honest last week I read the headline titles on several websites "Older Couples Finds Love at the Gym." I didn't open the articles. Not that I'm against love, but I'm tired of hearing about people falling in love at the gym. I look like I just got done fighting off dragons when I leave the gym, completely disgusting.
However, now that I've read the story my heart feels full. Not only is this couple in their 90's but they are also Hudson Valley residents. The New York Times reports that 98 year old Gertrude Mokotoff and 94 year old Alvin Mann from Middletown met eight years ago at the gym.
Alvin tells the Times "Age doesn’t mean a damn thing to me or to Gert. We don’t see it as a barrier. We still do what we want to do in life.”
In June, Gertrude said she was tired of waiting and decided to propose to Alvin on their way home from the Metropolitan Opera House in the city. On August 5 Getrude and Alvin were married by Mayor Joseph DeStefano at Middletown City Hall in front of 50 friends and family members.
Of course Alvin had some words of wisdom when it comes to staying young,
People always ask what it is that keeps us young. Of course, one part of it is medical science, but the bigger part is that we live worry-free lives; we do not let anything we cannot control bother us in the least
Congratulations to the happy couple!
