Cronomer Valley Fire Dept invites you to stop by on May 5th between 7 AM and 11:30 AM to enjoy pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, coffee, and juice. Breakfast will be at the firehouse at 296 North Plank Road, Newburgh, New York.

Sunday, May 5th, 2024 - Marlboro Firefighters Pancake Breakfast

Servings start at 7:30 AM and go through 11:30 AM. The firehouse is at 14 Grand Street in Marlboro, New York. Tour the firehouse, meet the firefighters, find out how to volunteer, and of course, enjoy the food. There will be eggs, sausage, pancakes coffee, tea, juice, and a 50/50 raffle.

Saturday, May 18th, 2024 - Maybrook Fire Department Open House

On May 18th from 11 AM to 4 PM stop out with your favorite truck enthusiast for the Maybrook Fire Department's Touch-A-Truck event. Enjoy live demos, kids activities, gear try-ons, and more. This is all happening at 204 Wallace Avenue i Maybrook, New York.

It is Wing night at the firehouse on June 8th starting at 8 PM. It Wing Night runs from 5 PM to 10 PM at the Trout Brook Firehouse 712 Lakes Road Monroe, New York. $25 All you can eat and drink. Aroma Cigar Room will be there selling cigars plus they have cornhole, a 50/50, and a dunk tank.

Wed - Sat, June 26 through 29th, 2024 - Warwick Fire Department Carnival

Enjoy a carnival at the Warwick Veterans Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 26th through Saturday, June 29th, 2024. it is $25 each night for a pay-one-price wristband for the rides. Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday. The carnival happens rain or shine but the fireworks have a rain date of Sunday, June 30th, 2024.

The time comes in every small town in Upstate New York when they must look to giving up the ghost with their old train stations and firehouses. Time has passed these important places for the most part, and (in the case of the old firehouses), new, more modern ones must be built.

So, what to do with the old buildings?

Well, many communities have sold off their "old stock" of train depots and fire stations to private citizens who have breathed new life into the structures as modern, delicious, and very popular restaurants.

Here are some very old train depots and fire stations (some more than 150 years old), that

are now vital places in their communities, serving up delicious meals, a place for high-end cocktails, a venue for live entertainment, and more. And to the credit of almost each of these listed in this gallery, they have all managed to modernize these old buildings while leaving important nuances reflecting back on the DNA of their past, back to when the conductor used to holler "All Aboard" and to when the fire trucks barreled out the huge front doors answering the call in the neighborhood.
