National Geographic magazine is known for their beautiful photographs and exposing millions of people to history, geography, and world culture every month. In fact, it has has a readership of over 6.7 million readers every month and has been continuously published since 1888.

To say that it's a big deal to have one of your photos in the magazine, is an understatement, but what if you, or where you lived, was featured prominently in an issue, how cool would that be.

Residents of Ulster County are about to find out. According to Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, Ulster County is the featured supplement in the December 2016 issue. It will be  featured in a beautiful, pull-out, full-color map entitled 'Dreaming Green' and will highlight some of the County's environmental achievements.

Some of those achievements include becoming the first and only county in New York to become net carbon neutral, being the only county which gets 100% of their electricity from renewable resources, creating a world class interconnected rail trail system, and so much more. Also featured in this supplement will be the John Burroughs Black Creek Corridor, the Hudson Valley Farm Hub, and more.

The issue is expected to be on newsstands at the end of this month.
