One thing that is really wonderful about living in the Hudson Valley is that we have so much access to nature. Our area brings people from far and wide, even the news media from New York City.

Every morning, I wake up to CBS News. It is the station my father watched when I was a kid. Not to date myself, but Walter Cronkite was a regular at the dinner table at my house. To this day, I watch the nightly news with my dinner. Luckily for me, they invented the DVR.

Recently, one of the people I consider to be TV royalty for his time at CBS as their "always happy weatherman," John Elliot, made an appearance at Warwick Valley Community Center while they were holding an event that included the Hudson Highlands Nature Center (HHNC).

When I was a child, my first experience with wildlife was thanks to the Hudson Highlands Nature Center, which had a different name at the time. The name may have changed, but their dedication to teaching us about nature and our natural surroundings has only continued to grow.
