
Home Aide Caught on Video Abusing Disabled Hudson Valley Veteran
Disturbing videos show a home aide allegedly abusing a disabled Vietnam Veteran in Orange County, New York.
The family of an 80-year-old Vietnam Veteran is demanding that a private home aide in Orange County, NY, be held accountable by authorities for his alleged actions in a disturbing case of elder abuse.
Disturbing Videos Show Alleged Abuse of Vietnam Veteran in Bullville, New York
A disturbing case of abuse has family members of the victim demanding answers after numerous videos show a home health aide mistreating the person he was hired to take care of. The videos were shared with us by Tammy Powers Jollie, the daughter of the 80-year-old victim, Doug Powers, who is a disabled non-verbal Vietnam veteran in Bullville, New York.

Powers Jollie told us that her dad has advanced dementia, requiring 24-hour home care, and up until recently, the family thought the aides they hired were doing fine.
"We had gotten comfortable thinking we’re in a good spot with the aides we had. To our surprise, he was the devil in disguise," said Powers Jollie.
Left Lying on the Floor for Hours
The videos, which were were caught on the families Blink home cameras from March to May show numerous incidents of abuse including the aide yelling at the victim while he's lying on the floor helpless, calling him "a freakin' idiot". Other clips show other instances of abuse, including the aide shoving the victim onto the kitchen floor, leaving him lying on the floor for hours.
The family first noticed the videos last month when they began reviewing them to try and locate a non-related moment: "As we watched, every video got more disturbing."
Warwick, NY Home Aide Arrested
Once the family realized what was happening, they contacted the Town of Crawford Police Department (CPD) to file a report. Soon after, CPD arrested 56-year-old Christopher Diccianni, from Warwick, NY, and charged him with two counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.
Powers Jollie told us that her dad, who is a retired corrections officer in Otisville suffered various injuries from the incidents stating, "He had a grab mark (from nails) on his chest and his anxiety and aggression have gotten much worse, he’s just now getting better with little signs of aggression".
Diccianni was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to reappear in Crawford Town Court on June 16th.
