If you have ever had a hard time keeping your eyes open while driving, this could help next time.

I have always wondered how some people can drive for a living. I think that being a truck driver is not only a really tough job but it can be really dangerous as well. Falling asleep behind the wheel is something that truck drivers deal with everyday and if you have ever driven any long distances, that tired feeling when you driving is really scary.

The folks over at Ford, who say that over 250,000 Americans fall asleep while driving each day, have come up with a pretty cool idea that really could save lives and stop drivers from falling asleep behind the wheel.

According to BroBible, Ford has created a smart hat designed to save drivers lives by determining if they are sleepy and distracted while behind the wheel.

The hat is called the "SafeCap" and once a driver puts it on, the hat will use sensors and a gyroscope to sense head movements. So if a driver starts dozing off, it’ll wake them up with sound, light, and vibration.

The hat is not available just yet but Ford is looking to make the hat available to everyone once they complete some additional testing.
