40-Year-Old Man Arrested After ‘Graffiti Spree’ in the Hudson Valley
Police have arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly spray-painted multiple buildings in Dutchess County, NY.
For as long as spray paint has been available graffiti has always been something that has randomly appeared on things across New York State. Graffiti, which is defined as "a form of visual communication, usually illegal, involving the unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group" began to become popular back in the late 60s and before long was a nationwide issue stretching across the country.

Some people appreciate graffiti and consider it a form of art if done right. Others despise it and think it has no place in our community, like the residents in Beacon, New York who have recently seen more graffiti across the Dutchess County city.
Multiple Building Graffiti Spree in Beacon, New York
According to the City of Beacon Police Department (BPD), sometime in the early morning hours of September 21, 2024, a suspect allegedly spray-painted multiple buildings along Main Street with large letters. Shortly after the graffiti was reported BPD began an investigation to try and find who was responsible. The investigation identified a vehicle that police believed was the vehicle the person suspected of leaving the graffiti on the buildings was driving on the morning of the crime.
Man Arrested for Graffiti Spree
Six days later BPD was able to locate the vehicle and pull it over to continue its investigation and possibly apprehend the suspect. The traffic stop, which took place on Friday, September 27th identified 40-year-old Richard Bulson as the person allegedly responsible for the graffiti. BPD placed Bulson under arrest and charged him with three counts of criminal mischief and three counts of making graffiti. He was processed and released with a ticket that is returnable to Beacon City Court at a later date.
BPD reminded the community that graffiti of any kind is illegal and they take any forms of vandalism seriously and will use all available resources to investigate and arrest those responsible.
