We all have a list of things that we would like to do with our homes, remodel a bathroom, add on, update the kitchen, install new carpeting etc. Often times though, there's another list, the list of must haves, such as a new furnace, windows, siding, a new roof etc. This list can also be the most expensive and therefore the toughest to get done.

A little help would be great and Orange County Executive, Steve Neuhaus agrees. He recently announced a zero-interest loan program available to qualifying residents administered through the county Office of Community Development. The home-improvement loans are funded by the federal government; no county taxation is used.

The loans may be used for new roofs, heating systems, windows, handicapped ramps and bathroom modifications, weatherization, and more. The agency can provide loans up to $20,000 and a family of two may have a household income up to $51,150 to be considered eligible.
