One of the Hudson Valley's favorite sub shops is offering everyone a FREE way to beat the heat this week.

The last couple of days Mother Nature has made it clear that she is preparing to hand us an extremely hot summer this year. Summer officially starts on Thursday, June 20th but the last couple of days have already felt like the "dog days" as we've been experiencing a heatwave with hot humid days and temperatures nearing 100 degrees across the Hudson Valley.

If the forecasters are correct the next few days temperatures will once again be in the 90s, with the heat index making it feel like it's over the 100-degree mark. When temperatures get this high it can become dangerous for many, especially for anyone who has to work outside which is why heat warnings get talked about as much as they do.

Oftentimes many parts of the Hudson Valley will open temporary cooling stations to give folks a chance to stop in to cool off for a bit.

Cooling stations come in all forms but have you ever heard of a sub shop offering up their locations to cool off? The folks at Jersey Mike's have announced that they would like to extend an offer to anyone looking to cool off for a few minutes this week.

The popular sub shops posted a message in the Hyde Park Community group on Facebook yesterday offering something to help everyone cool off this week.

"Hey Peeps! if you are struggling in the heat and need respite please feel free to stop in any of our Rt. 9 locations to rest and help yourself to a cold fountain drink on us. Today thru Sunday. We are here for you!"
