Last night's weather that rolled through New York and Connecticut had drivers and first responders scrambling to avoid flash flooding.
Mid-week Thunderstorms Caused Traffic Problems Wednesday Afternoon
The storms that formed in the afternoon and into the evening left roads flooded across the Hudson Valley and Western Connecticut. The timing wasn't good either, since many people were on their way home. Drivers reported puddling on roads and heavy rain.

To give you an idea of how fast a road can turn into a river, look at what happened Wednesday during the storms in Brewster. The Brewster Fire Department shared these photos from flooding that occurred on Route 22 under the overpass for New York State Route 84. In one photo, you can see the water looking like a waterfall from the highway above.

Looking ahead to what we can expect weather-wise over the next few days, according to NOAA, the National Weather Service, we still have a chance for some severe weather to develop, which could leave roads flooded again. With the July 4th holiday weekend, we can also expect heavier-than-usual traffic.

Fortunately, it looks like the best chance for us to kick up a new storm or two will be Thursday night into Friday, but after that, the weather for the weekend should be mostly dry.
