Flash Flood Warning in Effect For Sullivan County
For weeks, we've not seen a drop of rain, and our lawns and gardens were showing the signs of desperately needing water. Well, the rain has arrived and it's coming at us in a big way.
According to the National Weather Service, parts of the Hudson Valley saw almost 4 inches of rain overnight leaving parts of the Hudson Valley already flooding. With more rain on the way, that's not good news.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Eastern Sullivan County. Flooding is already occurring and with an additional 1-2 inches of rain forecasted for today, creeks and streams already running high could overflow their banks without much warning.
The Neversink River is currently rising rapidly and will likely overflow it's banks north of Bridgeville later today. Other areas that may be impacted by flash flooding include Fallsburg, Monticello, Liberty, Neversink South Fallsburg, Wurtsboro, Otisville, Woodridge, Bloomingburg, and Haven.
If you are in a flood-prone zone or you see flooding occurring, please move to higher ground and never drive your car through water-covered roads. You have no way of knowing how deep it is or how stable the ground is under the water.
