A bizarre assault in Ulster County left a vehicle severely damaged and one person covered in blood on Tuesday.

According to the Ellenville Police Department (EPD), it all started in the early morning hours on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, when officers were dispatched to a residence at 51 Westwood Avenue in Ellenville for a reported assault. Upon arrival, at approximately 4:42 a.m., officers discovered that one person was covered in blood and quickly began an investigation, which revealed some bizarre findings.

According to police, its investigation alleges that the 28-year-old suspect had driven from out of state to the home of her parents in Ellenville. When she arrived in the early morning hours, she allegedly got out of her vehicle and proceeded to severely damage the victim's vehicle by puncturing all of the tires and using a weapon to put "deep cuts" into the paint.

Following that, the suspect proceeded to unlawfully enter the house with a knife and a sledgehammer, where she allegedly searched the home for the victim, her 61-year-old stepbrother. Police said the victim, who was awoken by the commotion, walked out of his room to see what was going on and was confronted by the suspect (stepsister,) who proceeded to stab him in the upper neck and shoulder area and then struck him with the sledgehammer.

Sister Charged With Stabbing Stepbrother in Ulster County, NY

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Sara R. Levine of Lakeville, PA, who was taken into custody following the assault and was charged with multiple felonies, including burglary, assault, and criminal mischief.

The victim's name wasn't released, but EPD did say he was taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
