A tragic loss.

According to the Times Herald Record, Crawford police Sgt. Eric Meier died Thursday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while on the job.

Officer Meier and another Crawford officer were investigating a tip that someone was growing marijuana in the fields on old farmland off Lybolt Road when Meier suffered a medical emergency.

State Police Senior Investigator Patrick Beyea told the Record

“They were walking around up there. He was overcome by some kind of medical emergency. And his partner called for help.”

Emergency responders took Meier by ambulance to Orange Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Crawford Police chief Chief Dominic Blasko told the Record that Meier was a police officer in Crawford for more than 25 years and he was a beloved figure in the town, a man deeply involved in his community.
