Confederate Railroad Coming Back to The Hudson Valley

Back in July, a Grammy-nominated band was at the center of controversy in the Hudson Valley.

The band Confederate Railroad was scheduled to play a free show at the Ulster County Fair on August 1st. However, a petition was started on Change.Org to have the band removed from the fair lineup due to allegations that the band name is racist.

On July 25th, 2019 the band was dropped from the Ulster County Fair line up.

On the opening day of the Ulster County Fair local country/rock cover band 90 Proof performed and towards the end of their set, made a statement on where they stood amid the controversy.

90 Proof's lead singer Raymond Minew was wearing a t-shirt that said: "90 Proof Supports Confederate Railroad." Then the band played the song "Trashy Women" by Confederate Railroad.

The video went viral and Confederate Railroad caught wind of it. Then the wheels started to turn.

Yesterday it was announced that Confederate Railroad will be back in the Hudson Valley to perform. They're scheduled to hit the stage at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie on Friday, September 20th.

90 Proof along with Whiskey Crossing will be opening the show.

Raymond Minew of 90 Proof explained to us how this event came together saying "Shortly after showing our support for the Confederate Railroad Band at this year's Ulster county Fair we were contacted by them. They we’re very grateful. After speaking with their agent it was clear that we had the same goal. To get confederate Railroad and 90 Proof band together on the same stage."
