CMA Awards Show Best Performance Goes To
So Wednesday nights CMA Awards broadcast was one for the record books. So many great performances and so many great surprises throughout the night. There were also some once in a lifetime performances. The one that is top of mind for me was Willie Nelson with Kasey Musgraves. Their version of Rainbow Connection will go down as one of the shows biggest moments.
The two have collaborated in the past on their hit duet Are You Sure that includes signature Willie guitar licks.
Their chemistry is the reason I believe it was no accident that for Willie's first performance in seven years on the CMA's they had him paired with the newly crowned Female Artist of the year Kasey Musgraves. Their connection was evident throughout the song and their version of "Rainbow Connection" can't be duplicated.
Another standout performance for me was Kelsea Ballerini with her hit "Homecoming Queen" which got her a shout out from Garth Brooks who walked away with the big award of the night Entertainer of the year.
I also have to mention Eric Church's "Some of It" simply because he is my favorite always.
Fun fact from This Day in Country Music: it was today in 2005 that Garth Brooks, the newly crowned CMA Award Entertainer of the Year performed at the 35th Annual CMA Awards live from Time Square in New York City. He performed "Good Ride Cowboy" as a tribute to his friend the late Chris LeDoux.
