A driver in Westchester County, New York recently heard a funny noise coming from under the hood of her car while she was driving, and as local police stopped to assist they made a shocking discovery.

On Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 the Emergency Service Unit of the Westchester County Police Department was going about their business as usual when they stopped to assist a driver having car troubles on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, New York.

Westchester County Police Make Shocking Discovery

As officers approached the vehicle the driver told responding officers that there was a funny noise coming from under the hood on the vehicle. Westchester Police Officers Kraus and Hinkley began to investigate to try and determine what the issue could be.

Officers proceeded to pop the hood and quickly noticed that there was something stuck in or around the engine compartment. Attempting to locate the "issue" officers dissembled part of the engine compartment to discover there was a kitten stuck inside.

The kitten apparently worked its way well inside the engine compartment according to the Westchester County Police Department's Facebook page. Thankfully officers were able to safely "rescue their new feline friend."

Crazy Wildlife Stuck in Cars

This isn't the first time wildlife has found its way into a vehicle similar to this as there have been numerous reports over the years of squirrels, chipmunks, and mice finding their way into tight spots in vehicles. If you ever find yourself in a situation similar to this police say the best thing to do is either find a safe space to pull over and investigate or bring your vehicle to the nearest mechanic.

Recused Cat Has a New Owner & New Name

Police didn't say how the kitten got into such a tight spot or who the kitten belonged to but did say that the kitten now has a new home along with a new name, Engine!
