Car Hits Three Women in Saugerties
The accident took place on Saturday on Glasco Turnpike in Ulster County.
According to a press release from the Saugerties Police Department, reports of a car versus pedestrians accident came in around 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and after responding and investigating, it was determined that Mykel Binder was traveling westbound on Glasco Turnpike at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, subsequently striking three pedestrians that were off the roadway on the eastbound shoulder.
The three that were struck were all from New York City, Valerie Kissing age 28, of Brooklyn, Alexandra Katharina age 31, of Brooklyn, and Jasmine Foerj, 31, of Queens Village.
All three were transported to Kingston’s Health Alliance Hospital for various injuries.
The driver Mykel Binder from Mout Marion was charged with a violation of unlawful marijuana possession and was issued traffic tickets for reckless driving, speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right and failure to use the designated lane.
Binder is due back in Saugerties Court at a later date.
