If you travel on Sawkill Road to get from Kingston to the Town of Ulster, get ready for a long term detour.

According to the Daily Freeman, starting April 4th, the Sawkill Road bridge that goes over the New York State Thruway at mile marker 91.88, will be closed to everyone, except local traffic.

The bridge repairs will take about 7 months to complete and should be re-opened by November 30th.

Once the bride is closed, anyone looking to get from Kingston to the Ulster shopping areas will have to take Washington Avenue to the traffic circle to Route 28 to Route 209 or Albany Avenue to Ulster Avenue or Broadway to East Chester Street to East Chester Street Bypass to Ulster Avenue.

The New York State Thruway have said the bridge repairs will cost around $4 Million.
