Bannerman Island: Castles, History… and Goblins?!
Is Bannerman Island Haunted?
For years there have been rumors floating around about spirits and the haunted history of Bannerman Island.
The website Visit Vortex reports that Native American's believed Bannerman Island to be "possessed by evil spirits." It was so haunted that local tribes didn't want to be close in proximity to Bannerman.
The Bannerman website kind of explains further writing "Once an uninhabited place, accessible only by boat, it was considered haunted by some Indian tribes and thus became a refuge for those trying to escape them. " Adding:
These superstitions and others promoted by later Dutch sailors make for many fanciful tales.
One of those fanciful tales is a story about goblins haunting the island.
Are Goblins Haunting Bannerman Island on the Hudson River?
According to the lore from sailors, they believed a "tribe of goblins" would control the waters around the island on the Hudson.
The wind, created by the goblins, would cause boats sailing on the Hudson to sink. The story goes that to this day, during big storms, you can still hear crews crying for help.
Spooky right?
Bannerman Island has never confirmed or denied the goblin rumors until now. On Facebook Bannerman shared the following cryptic message:
I'm sorry, WHAT?!
One commenter wrote "I'm not sure.... but are there any goblins on the island?" To which Bannerman responded "Let's not even worry about them that much."
Now, I'm officially worried about the Bannerman Island Goblin. But that's just me.
