Are these supposed to be there?

While walking to my car this morning, I noticed something odd out of the corner of my eye. At first, I was a little nervous. What could this be?  It wasn't white and icy, it was green and soft and seemed to be coming up out of the ground. Hurriedly, I grabbed my phone to get a picture, just so I'd have proof.

I have a feeling that I have seen these before but I can't be sure. It feels like a million years ago...Maybe, if we're lucky, more will appear and even hang around awhile! Have you seen anything like this in your yard? Let me know, I'd love to compare notes!
