Three Ways You Know That Spring Has Arrive in New York
Everywhere you turn this week you are going to discover another sign of Spring arriving in the Hudson Valley.
Three Things That Prove Spring Has Arrived in New York
There are a few things that prove Spring is actually here besides the obvious date on the calendar. I don't know about you, but I keep my eyes out for evidence as soon as we have our first warm day. After it turned almost 70 degrees last week, I was on the hunt.
The first thing I discovered the day after the temperatures rose above 65 degrees was Snowdrops. These perky little flowers are now all over my yard. Yes, I am sure at one point they were in the garden but over the years the chipmunks have replanted them so they pop up everywhere.

What is the Story of the Snowdrop
Snowdrops are one of the first signs that Winter is on the retreat. I also noticed that businesses that return in the Spring started posting their opening dates. Wallkill View Farm in New Paltz will be opening on March 27th. Chances are your favorite farm Market will be doing the same.

So we have Snowdrops and farm markets what could possibly be the other sure sign that we have made it through another Hudson Valley Winter? The Peepers of course. I drive past a marshy kill at least four times a week and on Friday it is completely silent but on Sunday it is alive with the sound of peepers which are just frogs but they are very happy.

They were so loud I could hear them through the closed car windows. I was so excited I had to stop the car and roll down the window to confirm that yes Spring had officially arrived confirmed by the sound of the peeper.
On a more frustrating note, I have also noticed what I believe to be male spongy moths flying around by the hundred. I have a note into the NYSDEC to see if that could even be possible. I will follow up on that soon.
