The Wolf Den of Heroes has returned for 2025, and we look forward to celebrating a first responder you know each month. Nominate someone you know today.
The Wolf Den of Heroes Honors First Responders Every Month
Each month, The Wolf teams up with Mid Hudson Pump and MHA of Dutchess County to select one of our area's first responders to be inducted into the Wolf Den of Heroes from among everyone you have nominated.

Please take a moment to tell us about a first responder you know. Nominate them to be inducted into the Wolf Den of Heroes. Tell us their story and why you believe they deserve to be recognized for their efforts in our community.

Wolf Den Hero Inductee for March 2025: John "Jack" Delaney
John, who goes by Jack, was nominated by his family, Adam, Courtney, and Luke Delaney. See below what they said about their Dad and his service.
Jack has been a firefighter for 53 years. He started at 16 years old in Buchanan, and he has held the offices of Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant. Chief, President, Trustee, there. He also helps in other communities such as Ossising, Montrose, and Verplank as a Social Member. Jack is an active member of Hughsonville, where he was president. He is a lifelong member of Gardner Engine in Wappingers. Jack also held office in the Westchester County Firemen's Assoc, Dutchess County Firemen's Assoc, Hudson Valley Firemen's Assoc, and the Westchester County Parade Judges. Jack is now working with FASNY (Firefighters Assoc. of NY) on committees to make for a safer environment for our volunteers....So when our Dad dropped everything and left on Holidays or in the middle of the night, we understood and were proud that he was out there helping others (via Nomination to Wolf Den of Heroes from Contributor)
