Winter Storm Warnings Remain, Up To A Foot More Snow Predicted
Another round of moderate to heavy snowfall is expected later today into tonight in the Hudson Valley.
Snow is expected to redevelop in the Hudson Valley between 6 a.m. and noon and become steady and moderate at times, Hudson Valley Weather predicts. Snow will gradually taper off near midnight on Tuesday.
Hudson Valley Weather believes the region will see anywhere from 1 to 12 inches of more snow.
"It seems that those who are further to the east… stand likely to see the least additional snow… and those further west (especially viewers west of the Hudson River), could see the highest amounts," Hudson Valley Weather wrote Monday morning.
Hudson Valley Weather is forecasting over 4 more inches of snow in Dutchess and Ulster counties, over 7 inches of snow in Orange County and over 10 inches of more snow in Sullivan County.
Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for the Hudson Valley until Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service says 6 to 12 inches of snow could fall in Dutchess and Ulster counties. Residents in Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties could get 5 to 10 inches of more snow, while Sullivan County is forecast for 8 to 12 inches of snow.
There's potential for heavy snow banding to develop over the area, with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible. If this occurs, snowfall amounts could be a few inches higher than predicted, the National Weather Service says.
Officials are urging residents to stay off the road, take precautions in the case of prolonged power outages, and dress warmly to prevent frostbite and hypothermia. Temperatures through the night won't reach above 30-degrees.
If the storm slams the area as currently predicted many schools in the region will likely close. Make sure to check out our Hudson Valley Storm Center for the most up to date closings and delays and download the Hudson Valley Post app for updates on forecasts and more.
