What’s Happening This Weekend in the Hudson Valley: Snow and Science Edition
Thank goodness another weekend is almost here and if like me, you need a break, there are some fun things going on throughout the Hudson Valley this weekend. Here are just a few ideas with links to find even more. Have fun!
Saturday, January 27; 2 and 3: Try hockey for free with the NY Rangers. They are teaming up with USA Hockey to introduce the sport to more kids ages 5 to 9. They will be hosting lessons at the McCann Ice Arena in Poughkeepsie which will include free rental skates and loaner equipment, on-ice lesson, autographs with the NY Ranger alum, an exclusive NY Ranger hockey stick for each participant, and more. Saturday, January 27; 10:30-11:30: The Liberty Public Library is beginning a new event every other Saturday called 'Mad Science Saturday'. Friday, January 26 through Monday, January 29: 20th Annual Catskill Ice Festival. There will be multiple clinics offered for basic skills out on the ice, dry-tooling, and glacier travel techniques. Gear will be demoed, so you can see the latest in harnesses, ice tools, crampons, and more. It all takes place at Alpine Endeavors at Rock and Snow in New Paltz. Saturday, January 27; Times vary: Ice Skating at Bear Mountain. Public skating sessions are offered all winter long. Check the schedule for specific times. Plus, the rink is uncovered and outdoors, so make sure you dress appropriately. Find out more events going on this weekend in Orange County.
