It's the start of a New Year and while weather certainly can have an impact on any plans made at this time of year, there are still plenty of things to do this weekend that can get you out of the house and avoid cabin fever!
Sunday, January 4: Callicoon Indoor Farmer's Market. Farmers, food producers and artisans bring you the best of local farm fresh goodness. Vegetables, fruit, meats, eggs, cheese, baked goods, prepared foods, wine and more! They have everything you need to wow everyone at your dinner table: Apple cider, hard cider, wine, farm fresh turkey, salad greens, salad dressing, sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts, cheese, milk, cookies, muffins, pies, coffee, tea, honey, artisan cutting boards and bowls, flower center pieces and so much more!
Saturday, January 3: 10-11:30 Identify Winter Birds at your feeder at the Outdoor Discovery Center at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall. Join environmental educator, Lisa Mechaley, to learn how to identify winter birds using characteristics such as size, color, patterns and movement. Find out what types of bird food attracts which species of birds. Participants will make a simple bird feeder to take home and learn how to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Saturday, January 3: 1-3. DIY Sauerkraut & Home Fermentation Workshop at Fishkill Farms in Hopewell Junction. Love pickled veggies? Want to learn how to make ‘em? $10 gets you an assortment of Fishkill Farms winter veggies, plus a jar, salt, and walk-through of the preparation process--led by Derek Dellinger, local author of “The Fermented Man”.
Sunday, January 4: 4:00. January is Hitchcock Month at Starr Library in Rhinebeck. Every Sunday at 4 pm, they'll be screening a Hitchcock movie: Sunday, January 4; "North By Northwest": Sunday, January 11; "The Birds": Sunday, January 18; "Suspicion": Sunday, January 25; "Hitchcock".
