What Blew Away at Your House?

Did you have anything blow away yesterday?

I have to say that the wind yesterday was as bad as I can remember it ever being here in the Hudson Valley. I recently moved to Poughquag and to get home I drive out on Route 55 to Route 216 and I couldn't believe how much "stuff" I saw being blown around the roads.

I heard a huge gust of wind coming and as I turned around, I watched both of the garbage cans go flying up in the air.

There were tree branches, plastic bags and even garbage cans flying everywhere and I thought once I got home that the worst was behind me. Where I live now is almost at the top of a mountain and there were times yesterday that I thought the house was going to blow away like in the Wizard of Oz.

With wind that nasty, it can be really dangerous just standing outside and, to that point, I almost got taken out by two garbage cans. You know the green ones that are on wheels. I think they are Royal Carting cans. Anyway I was walking around the back of the house, and I heard a huge gust of wind coming and as I turned around, I watched both of the garbage cans go flying up in the air, like 10 feet up, and they didn't land until they hit the woods about 100 feet away.
