In-N-Out Burger Coming to New York?
We were told we'd never have an In-N-Out Burger restaurant here in New York, or anywhere on the East Coast. However, one lone In-N-Out burger somehow found its way to New York Monday.
So does this mean we are getting an In-N-Out? Well, no. But a mysterious uneaten burger said to be in "pristine condition" was found lying on the street in Queens. Thing is, no one knows how it got there.
Lincoln Boehm stumbled upon the burger that seemed to just be chillin' on its own in Jamaica, Queens. He took to Instagram to share the unexpected site:
Finding an untouched double double on the ground in Jamaica, Queens is the most confusing thing I’ve ever experienced. Ever.
The folks at In-N-Out were confused about it as well. They said they had no idea how one of their cooked burgers found its way to New York, considering their closest restaurant is in Rockwall, Texas. The company’s vice president of operations said in a statement that he was “surprised” to hear about the phantom burger:
Because our burgers are only cooked fresh to order in six states, it must have taken considerable planning for that burger to make the trip from the grill all the way to the Empire State.
In-N-Out is known as a California chain, with locations also in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Texas. Some social media users commented that maybe it was an art decoration, or maybe a prop from a TV shoot.
Perhaps someone with a weird sense of humor, some money, and a lot of free time brought the burger on a plane and just dropped it in the street, perhaps as a tease to the In-N-Out-less void that exists here in the east? However Boehm, a Santa Monica, CA native who moved to New York nine years ago, said he has tried this and the burgers become inedible after the long flight.
Or maybe there are bigger forces at work here?
