This weekend will be the beginning of the many holiday celebration around the Hudson Valley. We have so many communities in the Hudson Valley that deck the halls in order to bring holiday joy to all of us, and most of the celebration kick-off this weekend.

Various parades and light celebrations will be held in parts of the Hudson Valley between Friday and Sunday, these events are expected to result in some traffic alerts and we have uncovered a few we want to share with you.

Traffic Expected in Poughkeepsie, NY Friday, Dec 2, 2023

Friday, December 2nd in the City of Poughkeepsie you can expect some traffic interruption and road closures as the Celebration of Lights get underway. This event features dance, musical performances, food trucks, floats, and Santa Claus plus it is all capped off with Fireworks.

Areas around Dongan Square Park will have restricted access for vehicles while the event is underway from 6 PM to 9 PM. Other parts of the City will have traffic pattern interruptions to handle the increased pedestrian traffic and the fireworks display.

There will also be Tree Lighting at Mural Square from 4:30 PM to 5 PM.

Traffic Alerts For Arlington Area in Dutchess County Saturday, Dec 3, 2023

The Arlington Holiday Festival will be held Saturday, December 3rd from 11 AM to 6 PM.

If you are planning to be in the Arlington Area in Dutchess County and not attending the festivities, you should be aware there will be traffic delays and road closures. You should also expect heavier than usual volume. There will be an increased amount of pedestrians.

Later in the day, there will be closures that will affect the area around Raymond Avenue. Expect road closure for the Arlington Holiday parade to include Raymond Avenue from Rt 44/55 east to Hooker Avenue. Also closed will be Davis Avenue from Fowler Avenue to Raymond.

These roads will be closed from 5 PM to 6 PM.

Roads Closed in Pleasant Valley Saturday, December 3, 2023

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic advisory for the Town of Pleasant Valley. It is in effect on Saturday evening, December 3, 2022. Motorists should expect road closures for the Pleasant Valley Festival of Lights Parade.

Traffic delays and road closures should be between the hours of 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm. Roadways involved in the closures are North Avenue, Martin Road, Quaker Hill Road, West Road, and Main Street (Route 44).

It is suggested that if you are not attending or participating in the parade you should do your best to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes during the event. If you have to travel in the area, motorists are being asked to use caution and be aware of pedestrians. The Sheriff's Department also wants business patrons to understand that once the parade starts, vehicular traffic will be restricted, and travel will be delayed.
