Wappingers Falls, New York Rescue Celebrates an Empty Shelter

A local Hudson Valley rescue is celebrating after a successful event that allowed shelter dogs to decompress from stressful shelter life.

Wappingers Falls Animal Rescues Introduces New Program

Earlier this month Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County introduced a new program that dog lovers could enjoy all while helping dogs in the shelter.

It's called Doggy Day Out. CARE of DC invited the community to take a dog from the shelter out for a day of activities, whether it was hiking, running, swimming or just enjoying the outdoors.

According to CARE of DC, a day out of the shelter for a rescue pet can be extremely beneficial. They write "Spending the day out gives a pup a chance to decompress from the stress of living in the shelter" with the added bonus of getting fresh air, exercise, and "a little extra TLC" from their new human friends.

CARE of DC would supply those who signed up with all the equipment they would need and those who wanted to participate must be 21 years of age or older.

CARE of DC Celebrates a Successful Doggy Day Out

The first-ever Doggy Day Out at CARE of DC was held back on August 4th, 2024, and was a huge success.

CARE shared a video of an empty shelter, meaning all the dogs were out on their Doggy Day Out adventure.

We contacted CARE of DC Founder Karen LeCain who tells us "Our Doggy Day Out event was a tremendous success! It was heartwarming to see so many dogs enjoying new adventures and experiencing life outside the shelter."  She goes on to say that the dogs had an amazing day:

The photos we received from families who participated were truly amazing, showcasing the joy and excitement of the dogs as they explored new sights and sounds.

LeCain adds that while the pups were out the dedicated CARE of DC "volunteers took the opportunity to thoroughly clean our entire facility."

We asked if there may be another Doggy Day Out in the future and LeCain is optimistic telling us "We are thrilled with the outcome and are definitely planning to host another event like this in the future. Stay tuned for more details!"

Brews and Puppies? Don't Miss This Adoption Event in August

CARE of DC along with Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, Arlington Animal Hospital, and Mid-Hudson Animal Aid are heading to Sloop Brewing on August 18th for the first-ever Adoption Day at The Factory.

There will be drink specials, a supply drive, a silent auction, and a chance for you to possibly meet your new furry family member.
